Founded in 1947, Air Algerie is the national airline of Algeria. With headquarters in Algeiers, Air Algerie operates services to over 70 domestic and international destinations covering 28 different countries across Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and The Middle East. The airline is 100% owned by the government of Algeria and flies under the motto "Always Caring For You". Air Algerie boasts a fleet of 40 aircraft, 39 of which are operated for passengers. Aged from 7 to 17 years old as of 2010, Air Algerie’s passenger fleet is one of the youngest in the world. Since 2010 an average of 3.54 million passengers have flown with Air Algerie per year. As a direct outcome of these results, the company applied for a Star Alliance membership and partnership with Lufthansa in 2012.

Online check-in

Air Algerie offers its passengers an online check-in service that allows them to check in prior to arriving at the airport. This service is available from 24 hours until 3 hours prior to the flight’s departure.
When checking in online, passengers need to identify themselves by providing their names and booking reference. Many destinations will also require passport details.
During the check-in process passengers are able to select a seat from the provided seating plan.
It is also possible to check in at the airport, with many destinations hosting Air Algerie check-in terminals and kiosks. No additional fee will be charged for checking in at the airport.

Cabin luggage allowance

Each passenger of an Air Algerie flight is entitled to one item of cabin luggage with the maximum dimensions of 35cm x 55cm x 25cm.
The maximum weight of cabin luggage is 12kg.
Each passenger may carry 1 item of cabin luggage. Additional cabin luggage weighing over 12kg or greater in size than of 35cm x 55cm x 25cm will be subjected to additional charges and in some cases, placed in the aircraft’s hold.
Medicine, pharmaceutical products and other specific articles may be carried in small amounts provided they are declared at security.

Checked baggage allowance

Passengers flying with Air Algerie are entitled to one item of checked luggage weighing no more than 30kg or 40kg depending on ticket type and flight destination.
Checked luggage must be smaller than 158cm.
Sport and musical equipment may be checked as baggage provided they fall within Air Algerie’s defined weight and size specifications.
Infants aged less than 2 years are also entitled to 1 item of checked luggage weighing no more than 10kg, meaning prams and strollers must be checked onto the aircraft.
Additional baggage allowance can be purchased with the flight ticket, with fees varying depending on the flight’s destination. Any checked luggage that is greater in size or weight than those defined by the airline may also be subject to further charges.
