Checked baggage allowance

  • All items of checked baggage on AirBaltic flights must adhere to the 100cm x 50cm x 80cm baggage size limits.
  • On all AirBaltic flights, the maximum weight of 1 piece of checked baggage is 20kg. Infants aged less than 2 years can travel with 1 piece of checked baggage of up to 10kg free of charge. 1 fully collapsible pram, stroller, carrycot or infant car seat can be transported free of charge on top of the free 10kg checked baggage allowance.
  • The cost of checked baggage is determined by the method used to reserve the flight i.e. phone, internet etc. The maximum number of bags that can be checked by one single passenger is 2.
  • Baggage that exceeds the size or weight restrictions will be subject to a fine. If an item of baggage exceeds both these restrictions, 2 fees will need to be paid.
  • Sports equipment may be checked into the aircraft’s hold under the same fee stipulations as standard baggage, however each item of checked sports equipment must not weigh more than 20kg or else an additional charge will be incurred.

Founded in 1995, AirBaltic is the flagship airline for Latvia and is a low-cost carrier with headquarters in the national capital of Riga. The AirBaltic fleet currently consists of 25 aircraft made up of 5 Boeing 737-500, 8 Boeing 737-300 and 12 Bombardier Q400Next Gen airliners, which serve a destination network of 60 locations across Europe and The Middle East. AirBaltic carried 2.8 million passengers throughout the whole of 2014 and has overseen an average passenger load rate of 68% since 2007. In 2014, AirBaltic was ranked number one globally in punctuality by OAG analysts, who tracked the performance of a total of 43.5 million flight records.   • Online check-in is available for all AirBaltic flights starting from 72 hours prior and finishing up at 1 hour prior to the scheduled departure time.
  • Online check-in is available for AirBaltic operated flights out of: Aalborg, Aalesund, Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Billund, Brussels, Bucharest, Budapest, Chisinau, Copenhagen, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Helsinki, Kiev, Larnaca, London, Malta, Milan, Minsk, Moscow (Sheremetyevo), Moscow (Vnukovo), Munich, Nice, Oslo, Palanga, Paris, Prague, Riga, Rhodes, Rome, St. Petersburg, Stavanger, Stockholm (Arlanda), Tallinn, Tatry/Poprad, Tbilisi, Tel Aviv, Thessaloniki, Turku, Venice, Vienna, Vilnius, Warsaw, Zurich.
  • Passengers travelling with infants younger than 2 years are unable to check-in online.
  • Airport check-in is possible for all AirBaltic flights, although this service has additional costs. Passengers flying from destinations where the online service check-in is unavailable, or those who are unable to check-in online due to the requirement of special assistance (those travelling with disabilities or infants) are exempt from this extra costs.

Cabin luggage allowance

  • All passengers flying with AirBaltic are entitled to carry cabin luggage granted it does not exceed 55cm x 40cm x 20cm in size.
  • The maximum weight for cabin luggage items is 8kg.
  • In addition to the free baggage allowance, each passenger may carry 1 of the following personal items on board: ladies purse, laptop bag, duty-free shopping bag, camera bag or umbrella. Extra or oversized hand luggage will be refused at the boarding gate or where available, placed in the hold of the aircraft for a fee.
