Blue Islands is a Channel Islands based airline Founded in 1999 with headquarters in Saint Peter Port, Guernsey. With a fleet consisting of 5 ATR 42-320s, ATR 42-500s and ATR 72-500 aircraft, Blue Islands is a relatively small airline that operates services to Bristol, Jersey, London, Southampton and Cambridge inside the United Kingdom, plus to Geneva in mainland Europe from their base hub in Guernsey. Additional flights to Antwerp, Amsterdam, Dublin, Paris Orly and Rotterdam from London are also operated by the airline. Due to its relaxed baggage restrictions policy, in which passengers are not required to pay any additional baggage charges for carrying additional items or excess weight on board the flights, Blue Islands is a popular airline for passengers looking to enjoy shopping trips in England and skiing trips in Switzerland.

Online check-in

Online check-in for all Blue Islands flights opens 48 hours before the scheduled departure and closes 2 hours before take-off.
Blue Island’s online check-in service is available for all passengers with a valid passport and Blue Islands booking reference number for international flights. Passengers can still check in online even if they purchased their ticket from a third party agency.
Passengers checking in online for their Blue Islands flight may also select their preferred seat free of charge during the online check in process.
Passengers with special requirements or those flying with infants cannot check in online and must check in at the Blue Islands check-in desk at the airport. No additional charges are incurred for passengers checking in at the airport.

Cabin luggage allowance

The maximum permitted dimensions for cabin luggage on Blue Islands flights are 40cm x 30cm x 20cm. This is inclusive of wheels, handles and external pockets.
The maximum weight for cabin luggage items is 6kg for all destinations.
1 piece of cabin luggage baggage is allowed per person. The weight of a passenger’s cabin luggage counts towards the 20kg total each ticket holder is permitted to bring on board the flight. There are no charges if this 20kg is exceeded but there is no guarantee the excess weight will be permitted on board as it is dependent on the stowage space available.

Checked baggage allowance

The maximum permitted size of checked baggage for Blue Islands flights is 81cm x 40.5cm x 35.5cm. This is inclusive of wheels, handles and external pockets.
Each passenger occupying a seat is permitted a free 20kg allowance for baggage which includes 6kg for cabin luggage. Carriage of any items in excess of the free 20kg allowance is subject to space on the aircraft.
Blue Islands does not charge for excess baggage but cannot guarantee that it will be accepted onto the aircraft as carriage of any items in excess of the free 20kg allowance is subject to available space.
1 set of skis or snowboard per person may be carried, subject to space, and only on Blue Islands flights to and from Geneva. Skis, snowboards and other items of sports equipment counts towards the 20kg baggage allowance.
