Checked baggage allowance

  • The total dimensions of all checked baggage for Germania flights must not be larger than 158cm.
  • The standard maximum checked baggage allowance for adults and children aged older than 2 years is 20kg and 10kg for infants younger than 2. For passengers on flights to/from Lebanon, Israel, Iran, Iraq or Turkey, the maximum allowance is 25kg for adults and 5kg for infants. For flights to and from Iran, the limit is 35kg. It is possible to increase your check baggage allowance for a fee, though the maximum weight of any one item of baggage must not exceed 32kg (excluding flights to or from Iran).
  • The number of bags you are allowed to check in for a Germania flight is dependent on the flight’s destination and is only possible provided the combined weight is below the airline’s destination restrictions.
  • It is possible to increase your checked baggage weight allowance for a fee calculated in accordance to the excess weight being added.

Germania is a privately owned German airline with headquarters in the German capital of Berlin. Germania operates scheduled and charter flights to destinations throughout Europe, North Africa and The Middle East from its German bases in Bremen, Dusseldorf, Erfurt-Weimar, Hamburg, Berlin and London Gatwick in the United Kingdom. In 2009 and 2010 over 2 million passengers flew with Germania to over 140 destinations. Germania's fleet of 22 aircraft is made up of 7 Airbus A319-100s, 5 Airbus A321-200s and 10 Boeing 737-700 aircraft. Germania was the first airline to operate using a Boeing 737-700 aircraft with a chartered flight from Seattle to Berlin 1998. Founded in 1978, Germania was awarded the “IATA Operational Safety Audit” (IOSA) certification for the highest safety standards in 2010, and has been member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) since the summer of 2014.

Online check-in

  • Germania doesn’t currently offer online check-in services for any of their flights.
  • Passengers are able to check in directly at the airport terminal between 2 hours and 45 minutes before the scheduled flight departure time.
  • Passengers are also able to check in the night before the flight at selected airports in Germany. This can be done for all flights departing the following day before 12 o’clock midday. These airports include Bremen, Dresden, Erfurt, Friedrichshafen, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Münster-Osnabrück, Paderborn, Saarbrücken. This service is also available at Zurich airport in Switzerland. Checking in the evening before the scheduled flight departure is available for a fee and is payable during the check-in process.

Cabin luggage allowance

  • The maximum cabin luggage size for Germania flights is 55cm x 40cm x 20 cm.
  • The maximum weight of each piece of cabin luggage for Germania flights is 6kg to all destinations excluding to and from Iran, for which the limit is 8kg.
  • In addition to cabin luggage passengers may also take 1 of the following items without additional charge: A laptop bag, small ladies’ handbag, baby food for meals during the flight or 1 pair of crutches.
  • Parents flying with infants may also bring a collapsible baby stroller, carrycot and small amount of baby food to be consumed in flight. This is in addition to their cabin luggage allowance.
