Online check-in

• Passengers may check in for Virgin America flights using the online check-in service 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. This service closes 60 minutes before take-off.
• Mobile check-in is also available for all US destinations, but cannot be used for flights to and from Mexico.
• Any passenger is able to check in online provided they have a valid electronic ticket booking reference. The online check-in service can be accessed with an electronic ticket confirmation code or e-ticket number.
• Passengers are also able to check in at the airport terminal. This can be done via a self-service kiosk (if one is available at the airport) or at a Virgin America check-in desk. All airport check-in methods are open from 2 hours to 30 minutes before departure time. No extra fees are charged for checking in at the airport.

Cabin luggage allowance

• Each passenger is allowed to carry on 1 piece of standard cabin luggage and 1 personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Cabin luggage must be smaller than 25cm x 40cm x 60cm in order to be permitted onto the aircraft.
• The maximum weight for cabin luggage items is 14kg.
• Passengers are entitled to 1 free item of cabin luggage plus an addition small item such as a handbag or laptop computer. Any items that do not meet the airline’s cabin luggage requirements may be subject to the current check baggage fees.

Checked baggage allowance

• The maximum dimensions for checked baggage for all Virgin America flights must not exceed 158cm.
• The weight allowance for a single item of checked baggage is 23kg, though this can be increased to a maximum of 32kg for a fee.
• Each passenger is entitled to check in a maximum of 10 items of baggage. No single item can be larger than 158cm or heavier than 23kg. Additional item and weight allowances can be purchased when booking the flight, though bags that exceed the restrictions provided by the airline will be subject to an excess charge.
• Sports equipment can be checked in on Virgin America flights and will be subject to the same price scheme as standard check baggage. No single item of baggage that is larger than 200cm will be accepted onto the aircraft.
